Filipinos Are Heroic

War is a concept that eludes comprehension. Every aspect of it is impossible to grasp. And its realities unthinkable.

As we commemorate the lives of unsung heroes who fought on the Day of Valour,  everything that happened in  that day is a tragedy that turned out to be engraved in the dark pages of our history.

The Day of Valour, also known as the Araw ng Kagitingan, commemorates all the Filipino and American soldiers who stood up bravely against the forces of Japan during World War II. The week-long observance of this activity done annually is an occasion to honor not only the Filipino war veterans who sacrificed, died, and served the country, but also to remember those individuals who willingly rendered their honorable military service dutifully in defending the country in times of war. This is done to thank and acknowledge their marvelous contributions in preserving our sovereignty and defending our national security.

Let this day remind us all that Filipinos also have the ability to be heroic. To be feared and not just feared. Let us recognize the courage and heroism of the valiant men who fought for the country’s independence as we celebrate the 79th Araw ng Kagitingan this year amidst the pandemic. May this year’s national observance remind us of the valor of our veterans and may their stories of bravery ,through sheer courage and determination inspire us in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.Together, let us salute our veterans!
